Dear all,

Well what a week! I never thought in all my teaching career I would see students being Lateral Flow tested! This week, the staff and volunteers have done a remarkable job. In 5 days we have now administered 1899 tests. Second and third tests continue next week, followed by the issuing of home testing kits.

The best part of this week has certainly been welcoming back the students. Hearing their laughter and seeing them reunite with friends has been a real pleasure. Throughout the week I have been so impressed with students following the new rules by wearing their masks and really getting back to grips with their learning in lessons.

As always, I hope you are all now able to have a relaxing weekend.

Students will be given 2 packs of 3 lateral flow home testing kits when they leave after their third test in school next week. Along with the testing kits, guidance on how to use these kits will also be given.

Year 10 - 13 students will need to complete their first home test next Thursday, 18 March and after that date all year groups will need to be tested every Monday and Thursday morning before they come to school.

An email link will be sent out early Monday and Thursday mornings in order to submit test results to the school along with submitting results on the Government website.

Year 7 Spotlight!

This week our spotlight falls on Mr Lear’s fantastic tutor group 7F, who have a combined 3144 achievement points!

Mr Gray has found some superstar History students, with Nicole, Ella, Rose, David and Josh all submitting amazing assessments during remote learning. Whilst Kaci, Riley, Marcel, Connor, Amara, and Fionn all impressing with their contribution.

Ella, Chase and Josh all amazed Miss Wood by planning her a healthy day of eating based on their work in PSHE, ironically being rewarded with sweets and chocolate – all part of the balanced diet they advised!

In Religious Education they’ve been modelling responsibility at the start and end of their lessons whilst David has been a stand out superstar in preparing for his assessment.

In Geography students have continued their study of Africa, working on creating profiles of the River Nile. Mrs Tuckey was particularly pleased with Danielle, Nicole and Sasha.

Student leaders Danielle and Marcel have been supporting our return to school, sharing student voice with Senior Leadership; and will be taking on a special Year 6 transition project alongside the rest of the council shortly.

It has been wonderful to see 7F and the rest of Year 7 return to school this week and we look forward to a successful three weeks ahead of Easter.

Mrs Addison, Mrs Stewart, Miss Wood and Mr Lear.

It has been amazing seeing Year 11 back in school, there has been such positivity around them seeing their friends and getting back into lessons.

We just want to congratulate you all on an excellent first week.

Well done everyone!

Miss Nelson

We would like to say well done to everyone who has had PE so far this week! Effort and kit have been really good across all year groups, so please keep this up.

Please remember to be prepared for all weathers where possible, you are allowed to wear a long-sleeved black top or under armour under your PE top or a plain black jumper. You are not allowed to wear a hoodie or your School jumper. You may also want to bring spare socks and a carrier bag when on the field. If you have any queries regarding an item of clothing, please email your PE teacher before your lesson.

We look forward to seeing the rest of you over the next couple of days!

From PE
