NEWSLETTER 29 - 27 May 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Although this term has been slightly shorter than some, it seems to have been just as busy! As well as a range of trips, activities and charity sales, we have also held a ‘living history’ exhibition to support the Year 8 curriculum.

This week our older students have had a high number of exams. We are constantly impressed with their preparation and effort, and I am so pleased to see lots of them have signed up to the revision classes over half-term.

Earlier today, David Whewell, our Chair of Governors shared an important announcement about The John of Gaunt School joining the Equa Multi Academy Trust. As most people know, I leave John of Gaunt at the end of the summer to become the Chief Executive of Equa, so I am thrilled to be able to maintain a relationship with JoG as we continue to move forward with Mr Woodville as the new Headteacher.

Finally, I hope you are all able to have a relaxing half-term.

We look forward to the students returning to school for Term 6 on Monday 6th June.

Best wishes,

Paul Skipp

Headteacher

This week a team of KS3 girls had the opportunity to take part in the ‘Wiltshire Cricket - Chance to Shine Cricket Competition’. 8 Schools from all of Wiltshire came together to experience some competitive cricket matches. It was a great opportunity to learn all the rules of cricket and experience playing at Trowbridge Cricket club. We took a squad of 10 girls from across Year 7 to Year 9, for some girls this was there first time playing cricket and really enjoyed the experience. It was great to see some massive improvements in our overarm bowling, batting and communication between the two players when in bat.

The girls should be proud of our performance and in each match we play we scored over 40 runs!! A big shout-out for Ava Pike the captain who organised the fielders and batting order for each game!

Well done to the following girls:

Rose-Marie John

Olivia Walden

Zoe Radwell

Ella Williams

Olivia Day

Ava Pike

Darcy Bush

Izzy O’Grady
