Extra-Curricular Sports Clubs for Term 3

I am writing to you to inform you about the Extra-Curricular PE opportunities available to pupils attending The John of Gaunt School.

As a PE department, we pride ourselves on developing students in a holistic manner, focusing on the social, mental and personal sides of sport and exercise, as well as the physical skills. We also encourage students to try their hardest at all times, even if they may not feel that PE is their strongest suit. As such, all of our clubs are open to pupils of all ability, and are all completely free to attend. Of course, students attending clubs are also selected to represent the school in fixtures and competitions, and we have a wide range of events including leagues, tournaments, competitions and Schools Games throughout the year.

We run all of our clubs after school, starting at 3:15 and ending at 4:15pm. Pupils attending clubs change into their PE kit in the changing rooms, and are able to go home in their PE kits. All clubs have a register taken, and all students attending get a Reward point for every club they attend, offering further encouragement to students to attend these clubs. All we ask from students is to be in correct kit including sport specific equipment such as gumshields and football boots, and to let you as parents and carers know that they are attending clubs so will be home later than normal.

For your information, and to help add some clarity, please see the lists of PE and Sports clubs we are offering our students this term. All clubs will be starting on the first Monday back (Monday 9th January).
