Year 9 Review

The year team want to congratulate all the year 9 students on having an amazing year in school. This year has seen year 9 challenge themselves academically, musically, in the community and in being proactive with in JOG sports teams. Here are a few of their achievements from the year:

Brilliant club

Charlotte Hutchins, Cyrus Wordly-Farrell, Fynn Ashton, Jude Ashton, Lils McQuoid, Harry Pritchard, Tyler Dean, Kaydance Dunk, Oli Harris, Leighton Stainer and Jack Radford.

All of the above students took part in an academic mentoring programme with PhD students from a number of universities. Our students were set the challenge of writing an academic piece on the impact of AI, an extremely relevant topic in today’s society. All of our students passed this assessment programme, with some achieving the academic equivalent of a First at degree level. Last week, the students travelled to Bath University, where they were awarded their certificates and spent an afternoon on campus experiencing University life. Well done to all of them we are extremely proud.

They have been an absolute credit to the school, giving of their time and ideas to improve the school community.

Alfie Plumpton, Alfie Silcocks, Macie Baker, Valentina Spicer, Libby May Stevens, Mia Dunk, Summer Stevens, Tayla Kersey, Demi Rae McNally, Finley McLean, Will Taviner and Joe Coppin.

These students participated in a National lottery funded project to look at creating age appropriate resources to support positive friendships and relationships in the school.

Year 9 Careers Day

We like to congratulate all the students who took part in the year 9 careers day, where they met employers from a range of industries. We have been complimented by several of these employers regarding the engagement and enthusiasm shown with the students being referred to as ‘Great ambassadors for the school’.

We wish you a lovely, relaxing summer break and look forward to guiding your children through their GCSE studies.
